# Run notes: Sonnet 5.5, medium reasoning

## Identity
- Model name as stated in my environment: **Sonnet 5.5**
- Model ID as stated in my environment: **claude-sonnet-5-5**
- Reasoning setting: medium, as instructed in the task. I cannot verify this from inside the session; I have no tool or field that reports it.

## Skill
- Path: `benchmark/skills/anthropic-frontend-design-v1/SKILL.md`
- SHA-256 (computed with `sha256sum`, twice): `d91970639e9f5c37682ac7ab60094d35f1c7c1f38d731bd56396563aee10c1d3`
- Read in full only after all five stage-1 pages were written. No other skill was loaded or read.

## Timestamps (UTC)
- Start of stage 1: 2026-09-28T19:20:51Z
- End of stage 1: 2026-09-28T19:28:09Z
- End of stage 2: 2026-09-28T19:39:10Z

## Output
- Stage 1 (no skill): `claude-sonnet-5-5/{borrowed-weekend,afterlight-archive,fieldledger,second-sunday,quiet-practice}.html`
- Stage 2 (with skill): `claude-sonnet-5-5/skills/` (same five filenames) plus `skills/DESIGN.md` (plans, review against the brief and the skill's default list, revisions), written before any stage-2 code.

## Concepts per condition
| Page | Stage 1 (no skill) | Stage 2 (with skill) |
|---|---|---|
| Borrowed Weekend | Warm cream page, Fraunces headline, crate illustration, kit cards, filter bar, modal with day-range calendar and price summary | Cyanotype-blue hero with a "what kind of weekend is it" chooser, kits as ruled packing-list rows with condition bars, side drawer with an eight-weekend picker, Thursday/Monday extras and cancellation dates computed from the chosen weekend |
| Afterlight Archive | Near-black page with amber accent, monospace labels, filter sidebar, schematic map, entry cards, detail panel | Light "pavement" page; the archive is a terrace of drawn shopfronts (fascia lettering, windows that light on focus); reading view with a per-claim source ledger (documented, remembered, open) |
| FieldLedger | Green header, KPI tiles, cards for alerts/tasks/fields/weather/equipment, role switcher, reassign and report dialogs | A swimlane day board (05:00 to 19:00) for people and machines with an hourly wind band; collisions hatched; job sheet with consequences; a priority "needs a decision" list; separate crew "next up" and agronomist queue views |
| Second Sunday | Bright neo-brutalist cards colour-coded by listing type, filters, modal, circle cards, stat tiles | A radar of listings by distance around "your door", with a different shape per listing type; a personalised "works for you" verdict from car/carry inputs; expanding list rows with reliability as counts; circles and one-sentence impact |
| Quiet Practice | Black/white/vermilion, decibel bar, space cards, modal with hour slots and price | Hero is an interactive cross-section (source, wall, distance, fence) driven by a kit/loudness/time model; spaces ranked by noise fit with reasons; booking dialog re-checks the noise limit for the chosen hours |

## Tools used
Bash (`date`, `sha256sum`, `cat`, `sed`, `python` for text edits, `node`), Write, Read-equivalent `cat` on `prompts.md` and the skill. No browser, no automation, no screenshots, no installs, no subagents, no network fetches other than the pages' own Google Fonts links (not exercised here).

## Checks run and results
1. Node syntax check (extract `<script>` contents, parse with `new Function`) plus a duplicate-`id` scan:
   - After stage 1, all five stage-1 pages: syntax OK, no duplicate ids.
   - After stage 2, all five stage-2 pages: syntax OK, no duplicate ids.
2. Grep of the stage-2 pages for the skill's chrome defaults (`text-transform`, `monospace`, arrow glyphs, middle-dot separators): none present.
3. Manual code review of both sets (logic, focus, validation, empty states, honest-demo copy).

Not done: any real-browser rendering, 390 px layout check, keyboard walkthrough, or contrast measurement. The 390 px, focus-visibility and reduced-motion requirements are implemented in CSS and code (single-column media queries, `:focus-visible` rules, `prefers-reduced-motion` blocks, skip links) but I have **not verified them in a browser**, so treat them as unverified. The FieldLedger stage-2 board scrolls sideways inside its own bordered region on narrow screens (by design, with a keyboard-focusable region and a list alternative below), not the page.

## Repairs
**Before any check (first-attempt corrections found while writing or reviewing; not prompted by a check result):**
- The first `Write` call for Borrowed Weekend stage 1 failed on an invalid parameter and was resent; I also replaced an unfinished price expression (`base`) with a clean one (one day 60%, two days 100%, +40% per extra day).
- Afterlight stage 1: removed a garbled timeline sentence.
- FieldLedger stage 1: changed the sprayer job to use the tractor and moved the stubble job to 08:30 so the seeded day has a real machine and person conflict (`sed`).
- Quiet Practice stage 1: replaced convoluted slot-selection logic, removed a placeholder phrase in the barn equipment list and a stray hidden button.
- Borrowed Weekend stage 2: called the totals renderer from `draw()` so the price panel appears on open, preserved typed name/email across recalculation, replaced awkward button text with "See dates and price".
- FieldLedger stage 2: moved the pump-cleaning job to 06:40 for two hours so cleaning creates a follow-on scheduling decision.
- Quiet Practice stage 2: shortened an overlapping SVG label and moved the wall loss to its own label; made the warning box focusable.

**After a check:** none. Both syntax checks passed first time, so no fixes were made after a check result.

**Deviation:** while creating the checker I accidentally ran a `cat >` to an empty path outside the repo (`C:\Users\dmpme\AppData\Local\Temp\chk.js`); I deleted that empty file immediately. Nothing in the repository outside `claude-sonnet-5-5/` was touched, and nothing was committed.

## Token usage
unavailable (I do not have a usage figure inside this session).

## Confounders
- Both stages ran in one session. Stage 2 had all of stage 1's pages and reasoning in context, and I knew the briefs' content when planning, so stage 2 designs were partly shaped by having already built the obvious version.
- The skill lists specific defaults (cream and serif, near-black with a bright accent, card kits, caps and monospace labels). I had just written stage-1 pages that used several of them, which likely made avoiding them easier and the contrast between conditions larger than it would be for a cold start.
- Stage 2 pages are larger and more bespoke than stage 1 because I spent more time on them; stage 1 was written quickly by design (about 7 minutes for five pages).
- I did not open or list any other model's outputs, or any top-level folders listed as off limits.
- Reasoning level is asserted by the task, not observed.

## Coordinator checks (added by the parent session, 28 September 2026)

Run after the session finished, in the Claude desktop app's built-in browser from a local server. No Playwright; no screenshots kept as evidence. The pages were not edited.

- All ten pages: inline scripts parse, no console errors on load.
- Scripted pass at a 390 px viewport pressing every visible control: no uncaught errors (one SVG element without a `click()` method is a test artifact).
- Horizontal overflow at 390 px: none on nine pages. **`skills/fieldledger.html` is 392 px wide at a 390 px viewport**, a 2 px horizontal scroll. Left as submitted and recorded here rather than repaired.
- Gallery previews `assets/previews/*-sonnet55*.jpg` were captured with headless Microsoft Edge; they are gallery assets, not test evidence.
